Commandant Ahmed Abodunrin to Lead National Safe Schools Response Coordination Centre
Ahead of the resumption of primary and post-primary schools, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has strategically reorganized and appointed Commandant Ahmed Abodunrin PhD fdc as the new Commander of the National Safe Schools Response Coordination Centre (NSSRCC).
Commandant Ahmed Abodunrin takes over from the former Commander, CSC Tersoo Shaapera, who has been redeployed. The NSCDC, as a key agency in safeguarding critical national assets, including schools, hosts the NSSRCC, a significant initiative in implementing the Safe Schools project.
NSSRCC, located at the national headquarters of the NSCDC in Abuja, collaborates with state coordination centers across the 36 states of the federation. Established on February 13, 2023, the center aims to enhance school and community security by coordinating with security agencies and stakeholders, receiving and referring complaints, and maintaining emergency hotlines.
Dr. Ahmed Abodunrin, the newly appointed NSCDC Commander of the NSSRCC, brings a wealth of experience. Born in Iresi, Osun State, he began his career as a journalist before joining NSCDC as a volunteer in 1994. With a rise through the ranks, he previously served as State Commandant in Ogun and Ondo States.
Dr. Abodunrin holds degrees from the University of Lagos, including postgraduate and PhD qualifications from the University of Ibadan. He is a fellow of the Institute of Criminology and Strategic Studies (FICSS) and the National Defence College (fdc).
