30 DAYS IN OFFICE: BSA Sets on a Path of Progress, Renewal | ClipTV Online

The Lagos State Local Government election of July 12, 2025 has inked a new beginning for some LGAs or LCDAs. These new leaders sworn into office exactly a month ago, expressing appreciation for the mandate and accountability for the time in office. One of these leaders is Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele (BSA), who reminiscing the opportunity said, “today marks one month since I began my journey as the Executive Chairman of Imota Local Council Development Area. This new chapter presents a fresh opportunity for growth, progress, and development of our beloved Imota LCDA over the next four years.

“With a deep sense of gratitude, I want to thank the good people of Imota LCDA for their support and cooperation over the past few weeks and for standing with me in our pursuit of democratic prosperity. Your belief in me inspires a stronger commitment to serve you better. The last 30 days in office have been eventful and challenging, providing opportunities to make meaningful contributions to the lives of our people and our community, Imota LCDA,” he said.

BSA further highlights some of the achievements within the first 30 days in office.

In this first one month, we have done a lot, focusing on building our image and restoring public confidence in the BSA and BOJ administration, along with our developmental agenda. Here are the highlights of our administrative activities for the past one month:

1. SWEARING-IN AND PROCLAMATION OF THE 6TH LEGISLATIVE CHAMBER
2. THANKSGIVING SERVICE
   Hon. Benson and his executive Vice dedicated their new community service to God Almighty through a church thanksgiving service. “To commemorate the start of this new tenure and express gratitude for God’s benevolence, we held a thanksgiving service at the Methodist Church Nigeria, Imota Circuit,” BSA noted. He underscored other events unfolded within the 30 days in office as Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA.
3. COMMUNITY NEEDS ASSESSMENT TOUR
   In a bid to accelerate infrastructural development and foster a more accessible and prosperous Imota LCDA, I conducted a tour to inspect various community projects needing government attention.
4. APPOINTMENT OF CHIEF OF STAFF
   For effective governance and to ensure seamless service delivery, I appointed Hon. Aremo Kamilu Ogunnowo as Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA.
5. LAGOS LEADERSHIP ONBOARDING PROGRAM
   I attended a 3-day onboarding program for newly elected Council Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of LGAs/LCDAs in Lagos State. This program aimed to facilitate a smooth transition and build leadership capacity for effective grassroots governance.
6. GENERAL STAFF MEETING/INTERACTIVE SESSION
   As part of our administrative goals, I organized a general staff meeting and an interactive session with the management staff of the council, which included all political office holders in Imota LCDA.
7. BUILDING SECTOR STAKEHOLDERS ENGAGEMENT (BSSE 3.0).
   I participated in the third edition of the Building Sector Stakeholders Engagement (BSSE 3.0), alongside other Council Chairmen in Lagos State. This event marked the launch of the Certified Structural Integrity Programme which mandates every building in the state to undergo structural testing every five years to ensure safety for habitation and public use.
8. INITIATED WEEKLY REPORTS
   In line with our administration’s commitment to effective communication and feedback, I initiated the publication of an online weekly report to inform the public about our administrative activities since the inception of my tenure.
9. INEC CVR STAKEHOLDERS ENGAGEMENT
   I attended a Stakeholders’ Engagement meeting organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) focused on the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), along with other political leaders, party representatives, youth, and civil society groups across Ikorodu Division.

Following the meeting, I provided necessary assistance in mobilizing and sensitizing the public about online registration at various designated centres. As a result, we have successfully registered a total of 6,414 voters across our four political wards in Imota LCDA, with the number still increasing.

10. HOSTING A STRATEGIC STAKEHOLDERS MEETING WITH CDC AND CDAs EXECUTIVES
    I hosted a strategic stakeholders meeting with the executive cabinet of the Community Development Committee (CDC) and representatives from all the Community Development Associations (CDAs) in Imota LCDA. This meeting aimed to discuss our developmental agenda, promote collaboration, and address key community development issues.
11. WOMEN EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME
    I joined dignitaries in Lagos at the empowerment programme of 1,000 women by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, under the Renewed Hope Initiative. The beneficiaries, who include women and persons living with disabilities are provided with economic support and the necessary tools to establish sustainable businesses and improve their lives.

Outlining the administration’s achievements within the first 30 days in office, BSA also acknowledge the challenges towards development.

“While we have a long journey of growth and development ahead of us, I want to assure you that we will work passionately with all relevant stakeholders to change the narrative and build the Imota LCDA we can all be proud of. We are committed to listening to your suggestions and observations as we move forward on this journey to greatness.

“A month has gone by, and the clock keeps ticking. The good news is that we are on track, and we shall get there. I am thankful to God, the leadership of my party, and all the people of Imota LCDA for the opportunity to serve. I remain committed to this work and to sustaining our drive till we achieve the greater Imota LCDA of our dreams.

“Thank you once again for the opportunity to serve my people with dedication and integrity,” he concluded.

It is indeed a moment of appreciation and rendering of stewardship to the people of Imota LCDA. BSA has noted his gratitude and undscores his willingness to serve the people of Imota.
