Kosofe Local Government Chairman, Hon. Barr. Moyosore Ogunlewe celebrated three years in office with a grand finale event on Friday, marking the conclusion of a week-long series of activities showcasing his administration’s achievements. The festivities included the commissioning of vital infrastructures and community projects, reflecting his dedication to the development of Kosofe.

Week-Long Celebrations

The celebration commenced on Monday with the commissioning of 10 boreholes, followed by the unveiling of new roads and 500 KVA transformers for eight communities on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday, a storey building at Mosafejo Primary School in Oworonshoki was commissioned, culminating in the grand finale on Friday.

Keynote Speech

In his keynote speech as reported by ClipTV Online, Ogunlewe expressed gratitude to the APC party for providing the platform to contest as Kosofe LG Chairman. Furthermore, he thanked the people of Kosofe for their unwavering support, commitment and dedication to his administration. He emphasized that the projects were initiated based on the specific needs of the communities, determined through thorough surveys.

Ogunlewe Major Achievements

1. Water Supply:
   • Boreholes: 20 boreholes were planned, with 10 completed and commissioned. Locations include Eya Oke Street, Adebare Street, Round-about Market, Sholuyi Ayodele Okewon Street in Ogudu, and Olayiwola Owoya Street and Miyaki Street in Oworonshoki.
2. Road Infrastructure:
   • Road Construction: 36 roads have been constructed and completed, including Mudi Lane, Lateef Dosunmu Street, Adebayo Mogolu Street, and more. These roads span areas such as Anthony, Mende, Ojota, Ogudu, Ifako, and Oworonshoki.
3. Health Facilities:
   • Public Health Centers: Donations of ambulances to ensure swift patient transport and the construction of new health centers.
4. Council Buildings:
   • Modernization: Reconstruction and remodeling of council buildings, including the Kosofe National Union of Local Government Employee (NULGE) building, and ongoing secretariat projects.
5. Education:
   • Support Initiatives: Distribution of GCE and JAMB forms to 200 students annually since 2022, along with preparatory tutorials. A Storey building with standardized learning materials to Mosafejo Primary School. Support for adult literacy programs to ensure educational opportunities for all.
6. Cleanliness:
   • Environmental Efforts: Regular sanitation and drainage cleaning, with aspirations to be the cleanest local government in Lagos State.
7. Technology and Welfare:
   • IT Promotion: Initiatives to promote information technology among youths.
   • Food Bank: Establishment of the Kosofe Food Bank to support vulnerable residents.

Applause

Considering the achievements, Hon. Ayodele Olawande, Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Youth Development therefore praised Ogunlewe’s energetic and effective leadership style. He urged Nigerian youths to avoid being manipulated by opposition forces and to support President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to revive the economy, calling for patience and constructive engagement rather than protests.

Nevertheless, Mr. Bolaji Kayode Robert, Honorable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, also hailed Ogunlewe, commending his effort on development. He acknowledge that such projects only bring development to the table.

The commissioner further plead to youths on planned protests. He underscore the importance of peaceful dialogue and recommend the youths to learn from the leadership of Ogunlewe.

Dr. Babatunde Osinowo, and other notable personalities attended the event, underscoring the broad support for Ogunlewe’s administration.
