The Executive Vice Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government and National Chairman of the Association of Local Government Vice Chairmen of Nigeria (ALGOVC), Aarebirin Hon. Princess (Dr.) Folashade Olabanji-Oba, has declared her intention to run for the position of Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government in the 2025 local government elections.
Speaking at a Social Impact Tech Summit organized by COAPPT at the American Corner in Lagos, Aarebirin articulated her vision for Ikorodu and why she is the most prepared candidate for the role.

“For me, it is about experience, it is about accountability. You can’t take on certain responsibilities when you’re not ready for them. One of the greatest assets I have is that I have been most prepared from day one based on experience, antecedents, and my track record of service,” she said.
Highlighting her dedication to Ikorodu, Aarebirin expressed her commitment to driving impactful change: “Ikorodu is where my heart is. It’s about doing what’s best for our community and pushing us closer to where we deserve to be.”

She acknowledged the progress made so far while emphasizing the need for continued growth. “We are not where we need to be, but we are also not where we used to be. The world isn’t waiting for anyone, so we must equip ourselves, regardless of our social status,” she added.
Aarebirin also commended Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his leadership and responsiveness to innovative ideas. “We have a listening governor, a sensitive leader who is dynamic and open to smart ideas. This is the time for us to leverage these opportunities and propel Ikorodu to greater heights.”
Known for her extensive contributions to grassroots development, youth empowerment, and community advancement, Aarebirin’s declaration has sparked excitement and anticipation among stakeholders in Ikorodu.
As the election approaches, many are eager to see how her experience, leadership, and passion for community development will shape her campaign and potentially, her administration.
