Guatemala Recognizes The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for Support in Education | ClipTV Online

The Congress of the Republic of Guatemala Commission of Education, Science and Technology has honored The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints’ initiative for its beneficial effect in twenty years of change to Guatemala Education.

In a program on Thursday November 7, the congressman Faver Emilio Salazar Cordero and members of the education commission thanked the Church for the generous contribution. Noting that it has helped thousands of students in different parts of Guatemala including Jalapa.

Also, desks, blackboard, table, chairs and cash donations has been part of the supports. The church and its members in several places including Jalapa were part of this donations. “Thank you very much,” the Commissioner said. “Hands that give will never be empty,” Cordero said, thanking the church for the generous donations.

On behalf of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Elder Patricio M. Giuffra the First Counsellor for the Central America Area accepted the award. He said “the furniture and equipment donations to public schools and institutions are part of the Church’s social responsibility.

Furthermore, he stated that the church is to serve communities in need for the purpose of enhancing the quality of a comfortable and suitable environment. Also, it is in order to enhance the teaching and learning process for thousands of Guatemalan students”.

Education Support

This initiative is among the developments supported by the Church, which has embraced over 300 schools. The Churh support for education is however, beyond furniture, structures, technologies, and learning materials. These initiatives have enhanced understanding of children and youths resulting in improvement of their standard of living in Guatemala communities.

Additionally, the recognition cements the church’s traditions in humanitarian work, and its mission in education all around the world. SIS is a program to help out of school children as well as those struggling in school. It is structured based on the Nigerian education curriculum for junior secondary and senior secondary schools.
